How best to spread the messages?

This week I am asking for your help. Which podcasts should I pursue, and can you suggest a way to contact them? Send me an email.

As a reader, you already know that I believe I've found a way to conquer Parkinson's disease. Over the past 5+ years, I've worked to get Parkinson's experts, investors and foundations to look at a body of data that shows we should be testing dopamine reduction therapy in a clinical trial. Getting people to look at such a contrarian approach with open minds is not easy.

So I've recently started this blog/newsletter and published the science supporting this approach in the peer-reviewed literature (click here for article in the Journal of Neurology). In addition, I've joined several webinars/podcasts to share my messages. Getting exposure on podcasts is definitely valuable, and I hope you will tell me what podcasts you see as the best opportunity for us to share our messages.

No Silver Bullet 4 PD is a great platform (whether watching on youtube

or listening to the podcast), and I've been fortunate to appear twice there.

I will be joining the Together for Sharon podcast in September. I find Movers and Shakers covers great topics, but have not been able to connect directly with them yet. The north of Scotland Research podcast is great but focused on work in that region.

If you are listening to podcasts, that means it is valuable to you. I want to learn about them.

I'm open to Parkinson's focused podcasts or those covering a range of medical/health topics. If you know of a podcast about innovation or paradigm-shifting businesses, that would also be useful feedback.

What do I want to share with people watching webinars and listening to podcasts? Recognizing that we can't know with certainty that dopamine reduction therapy will conquer Parkinson's, sharing the science that makes me so optimistic is critically important. Beyond the academic point of view that making sure these studies are appreciated more widely there are the discussions triggered about being open-minded, not be afraid to ask contrarian questions and exploring novel approaches to a disease with no acceptable treatment available.

You probably can tell that I am pretty confident this approach will work, given the scientific data I've shared (link to Journal of Neurology article). In this journey, I've learned a lesson worth highlighting: the current model of disease is wrong and the current approach to developing therapies is wrong. Besides the science, just think of it this way. If dopaminergic therapies were the answer, don't you think that the thousands of scientists, billions of dollars and decades of work would have figured it out by now?

I'm asking about spreading the messages because there are several:

  1. We must let go of the idea that Parkinson's is a disease of dopamine deficiency.
  2. I want to share why we should be optimistic that we can find a way to conquer the disease.
  3. You should believe that dopamine reduction therapy can be the way to conquer this disease.

I focus mostly on #3 and there are two main reasons why my request of you for ideas and connections to first rate podcasts is so important. First, people with a degenerative disease need reasons to be at least a little hopeful if not optimistic. It's a terrible hand to be dealt especially without hope. Second, as a result of sharing this story and these data on the webinar/podcast "No Silver Bullet 4 PD" we secured our first investment. That's right, this summer someone who watched the No Silver Bullet webinar poked around the internet and appreciated the scientific basis for dopamine reduction therapy. He then contacted us and subsequently made a significant investment.

This made me believe we need to expand our focus beyond pitching potential investors to also making it easier for people to understand our messages, including #3, in order for them to find us.

So even if you don't have the ability to be an investor, you can be part of the solution by providing this critical feedback. Which podcasts should we pursue and if possible, how can you help us connect to the key contacts for these podcasts?
